YES WE CAN!!!
Today, I woke up with this song in my head, only the chorus, because I couldn't remember the rest of the song, who sang it or the title. After hours of searching I finally found it. This youtube video is quite remarkable, because as you will see, these black and white scenes are from forty years ago in the same park that President Elect Barack Obama gave his acceptance speech on November 4th 2008.
Now, I am convinced that we can change the world through strong diligent persistence and sheer hope, of course actions speak so much louder than words and music can ignite the soul and ideas to bring out our wildest dreams into the stark light of day. We can change the world, rearrange the world. Yes we can. It is such a fitting song for this victory but we must learn the truth now and really get to work. President Obama will only be able to do so much if we slack off, and I know that many of us want to do just that after this long and horrendous wait to change our current system.
Below is the video that really nails it for me. This man's name is John Perkins. He has two books out, "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" released in 2004 and another just released entitled "The Secret History of the American Empire". This man is a hero beyond all doubt to me and maybe for the rest of the world. He has the truth, and buddy I'm not kidding. The United States must learn of his stories and then and only then will we really be able to change the world. Go to his website, read his books and forever be changed. He appeared in Zeitgeist Addendum, a brilliant film illuminating his story. He's been speaking all over about his life and I feel thoroughly vindicated as someone who has been labeled a lunatic for going against the ways of the corporate world for, well let's just say, a while.
There's a slew of his speeches on youtube right now and google, but this is my favorite one of all. And don't believe one ounce of any rhetoric that comes out trying to discredit him, believe me, it's pure propoganda and smear tactics. Listen to him carefully and then decide.
